| So
you have decided to visit the Comox Valley in beautiful British Columbia? Your
next decision, since you are here, must be - where will you stay? If you plan
on enjoying our fun, friendly and beautiful seaside Valley for a few days (at
the very least we hope!) then vacation rentals are probably your best bet. Staying
in a vacation rental home is like visiting a close friend; you can kick off your
shoes, unpack your stuff and make yourself thoroughly comfortable.
We
have three great vacation rental homes for you to choose from in the Comox
Valley on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Two are on Mount
Washington and we have a waterfront vacation rental right on the beach in
Buckley Bay. Lets start with Buckley Bay. |

Where exactly is Buckley Bay? Buckley
Bay is on the east coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. The Beach House
is right on the ocean just a 20 minute drive south of Courtenay (and less than
an hour north of Nanaimo). It’s also close to the ferry to Denman and Hornby
Islands. Buckley
Bay Beach House The Buckley Bay Beach House is our new two bedroom
vacation rentals home with 200 feet of waterfront including a private beach. This
Vancouver Island holiday lodging is nestled among tall trees with incredible views
of the ocean, BC Coast Mountains and northern Gulf islands. If
you love the water and dream of going to sleep at night to the sound of the waves
lapping on your private beach then accommodations at the Buckley Bay Beach House
is perfect for you. The views are so good you can see all the way from Comox in
the north to Ship’s Point in the south. That’s
because the Beach House sits on one acre out on a small point of land giving you
a 180 degree view of Baynes Sound. The Sound is rich in shellfish and home to
the world famous Fanny Bay Oysters. After a day of seaside fun you can relax on
your beachfront deck and enjoy a seafood barbeque and an incredibly beautiful
British Columbia sunset. What’s
there to do at Buckley Bay? There’s swimming (kids love playing in the nearby
creek or there is a mooring buoy in front of the Beach House which gives a good
point to swim around and do laps in the ocean), sea kayaking (you can launch right
from your own beach) and picking oysters and digging clams on the beach (and barbecuing
them on your deck). There are lots of easy day trips into the Comox Valley…
if you can drag yourself away from your Beach House paradise.
In winter the beach house is a great place to be when a storm is going on - all
those huge trees waving around and the waves crashing on the beach while you’re
inside with a fire going and a nice bottle of red!! (We did say this was paradise,
didn't’t we?) Wildlife
abounds on Vancouver Island and at our ocean front getaway accommodations you
can view Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons, Sea Lions, Sea Otters and deer in their
natural habitat. The lush green vegetation, unique plants and abundant wildlife
makes Buckley Bay Beach House vacation rental a picture perfect Vancouver Island
getaway. |

Strathcona
Vacation Rental If you are looking for “Home Away From Home”
affordable luxury lodgings for your family during your Comox Valley
vacation then the 3 bedroom Strathcona Vacation Rental Summer Chalet could be
just perfect for you. The Strathcona Chalet is a newer, well-appointed vacation
rental located on beautiful Mount Washington, just a 30 minute drive from the
Comox Valley. The
accommodations include an open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area with vaulted
ceilings, making for a warm and happy atmosphere. The Summer Chalet is tastefully
decorated to a very high standard and everything you need is provided. Lodgings
also include a dishwasher, washer/dryer and a beautiful rock faced fireplace. Mount
Washington is a year round resort located right on the border of Strathcona
Provincial Park. The entrance to Paradise Meadows (part of the Park) is right
on the chalet doorstep. The deck at the Strathcona Summer Chalet overlooks the
Park and the view is lovely, no buildings to be seen!! There is a large, family-sized
Barbeque and patio chairs. Feel
like a hike? Just strap on your backpack, step out your front door and enjoy a
relaxed stroll on the unique boardwalk trails (installed to minimize damage to
the fragile alpine eco-system) or take an adventurous hike into the mountains.
There are many marked trails through the forests and open meadows leading right
up to pristine alpine lakes with views of Vancouver Island’s snow capped
mountains. Mount
Washington operates one of it’s many chairlifts during the summer season,
ferrying delighted adventurers to the top of the mountain where the views are
breathtaking and the Whiskey Jacks are cheeky (make sure you bring raisins and
they will land right on your fingers to daintily accept your offering). If
you want the best of both worlds then it’s just a short (but scenic) trip
down the mountain to the sea shore and shopping of the Comox Valley. |

Mt.
Washington Guest House What if you and a group of like minded friends
or family want to vacation together in the Comox Valley? Why
not consider our Mt. Washington Guest House lodgings. The Guest House, a 7 bedroom
chalet, is HUGE and absolutely IDEAL for groups or 2 to 5 families. It is “high
end” accommodations and very well appointed, we promise you will like what
you see!
Large
groups are welcome to rent the whole chalet, which has 3 floors/levels, 7 bedrooms
and 4 bathrooms (we did say HUGE!). The Guest House provides comfortable accommodations
for up to 30 people. Smaller groups (up to 12 people) are welcome to rent 2 floors/levels,
with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Why not give yourself lots of room to spread
out? Why
would you choose a mountain park and ski resort for your summer vacation rentals
accommodations? Because Mount Washington is SO MUCH MORE than just a winter ski
resort. The mountain really does offer the best of both worlds. When the Valley
is sweltering under a veil of summer heat the smart folks are up on the mountain
enjoying hiking in Paradise Meadows, mountain biking and swimming in fresh, clean
alpine lakes. At night mountain folk don’t have to pine for a cool evening
breeze, they go to sleep under a clear, cool sky full of sparkling stars and,
if you’re lucky, a fabulous display of the Northern Lights. Note: The
hot tub on the deck at the Mt Washington Guest House is a great place to relax
and watch the sunset. If
you love the outdoors and hiking then you will really enjoy going for a good day
hike in Strathcona Provincial Park, having an alpine picnic and capping off the
day with a refreshing swim in one of the lakes (there are 6 lakes you can swim
in between the Guesthouse and Cruickshank Canyon - a 6 hour hike). If
you want a taste of ocean surf and quaint main street shopping then Mt Washington
is only a 30 minute (30km) drive from the Comox Valley, with
all its amenities. Far from the madding crowd, Mt Washington is a very relaxing
place to be in the summer and the vacation rentals rates for the Mt. Washington
Guest House offer you exceptionally good value for your money. As a bonus, if
you are able to tear yourself away from your mountain Shangri la, the drive from
the mountain to the valley is one of the most scenic on the island!! |
